“COMFORT, BY THE FOOT”

PROBLEM FEET ARE NO PROBLEM
FOR US!“

Comfort, by the Foot” is the most unique orthopedic shoe store in Las Vegas. It is owned and operated by nurses that use their shoe fitting skills and their medical knowledge to fit even the most difficult feet.

The store’s original locale was at the Fantastic Swap meet. Every day the location had a list of people waiting to be fitted. After nine months, owner Bonnie Montesino and partner Wanda Crockett moved to a larger location.

How important is it for diabetics to have proper footwear? Certified Diabetes Educators Jan Guerra, RN and Jan Waters, RD, suggests individuals with diabetes should always protect their feet by wearing appropriate shoes. Poorly fitting shoes can quickly lead to injuries. Less feeling in the feet is the single most important reason for injury to the feet. When it comes to diabetes, many people can not wear the usual footwear.

If a person with diabetes notices redness, calluses, swelling, warmth, change in the shape of their feet, “The Jans” recommend an immediate call to the doctor. Edema is also a problem for diabetic patients. Their feet and legs swell to uncomfortable proportions. New shoe fibers allow the top part of the shoe to stretch. Velcro fasteners let the wearer adjust the fit. And high heels are being replaced with stylish shoes with less dramatic heel heights. Non binding shoes and socks help to increase circulation.

The store also carries a variety of orthopedic arch supports. These supports can help realign the spine, help with back, foot and hip pain. A properly supported arch can also improve your balance. There’s even one designed for women’s high heels.

The Shoe Spring is a great shoe for people who suffer from heel spurs, heel pain and tired feet. The Shoe Spring has a patented wave-spring technology and is available in many colors. These shoes are also a great shoe for walking and running. Also available at “Comfort, by the Foot” are specialty sizes up to 20 EEEEEE, custom shoes, children’s arch supports and specialty socks.

“Comfort, by the Foot” is open Monday through Saturday from
10 am to 5 pm.
