Lance Armstrong
Inspires
Millions To “Live Strong”
(NAPSA)-This summer, Lance Armstrong
is riding for a record sixth straight Tour de France victory. While
his status as a champion cyclist makes him a global icon,
Armstrong’s victory over cancer remains his greatest achievement and
stands as a pillar of strength and hope for more than
10 million Americans living with
cancer.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF)
is channeling the global
energy associated with Armstrong’s attempt at an unprecedented Tour
de France victory to encourage
people living with cancer to “Live Strong.” The LAF is making
available millions of "Live Strong" wristbands to be worn as an
outward sign of
support for family members, friends and loved ones who are facing
their own race against cancer.
Armstrong has been wearing the
yellow wristband, embossed with his mantra, “Live Strong.” In
cycling, yellow represents victory. To Lance and the millions he
inspires, yellow has come to represent hope, courage, inspiration
and perseverance.
“The color yellow is obviously
important to cycling and my career,” said Armstrong during a
training
ride in Europe. “We also hope it can mean something greater to all
cancer survivors and people all over the world, something that
triggers the mind to fight and persevere.”
The LAF believes that in the
battle with cancer, knowledge is power and attitude is everything.
The Foundation provides the tools and information people with cancer
need to live strong.
Wristbands are available for $1
each at www.wearyellow.com
and all proceeds benefit the LAF. Nike has donated $1 million as an
initial grant and the Foundation hopes to match Armstrong’s attempt
at his sixth tour victory and raise $6
million through the sale of the bands.
